Boomerang UK Ramsey The Bull Terrier Wins Wacky Races Fast And The Furriest Competition

Boomerang UK ran a campaign on Instagram to help promote the new series of Wacky Races on the television channel, the campaign was a competition called “The Fast and The Furriest”, a pun on “Fast and the Furious”, in the competition, the UK’s most famous canine influencers with over 300,000 followers were pitted against each other on Boomerang UK’s Instagram account last week to compete for the title of “The Fast and the Furriest”, each dog was dressed as a character from Wacky Races. Fans and followers voted for their favourite pooch using the new Instagram Stories voting feature until one dog was decided as the winner. The brand new Wacky Races series premiered on Boomerang UK on 1st November and new episodes are airing daily at 5.30pm.

Penelope Pitstop and Dick Dastardly were represented by fashion-obsessed pug, Suki and Ramsey the bull terrier in the first semi-final. Bruno the mini-dachshund, representing Peter Perfect was up against Collin the poodle collie wearing green for the Gruesome Twosome in the second round. In the final, Collin and Ramsey were head-to head; Ramsey playing of the role of the menacing and scheming Dick Dastardly won the competition.

This was the first time Boomerang UK has done an campaign on the Instagram social media platform. The Instagram stories races had a total of 3,400 votes over three days and were viewed by 12,000 people. The final race between Collin and Ramsey was the most viewed with over 2,250 votes for Ramsey. According to a survey carried out by Boomerang UK for National Pet Month in April this year, the survey stated that 64.4% of families in large households take hilarious and adorable photos and videos of their pets at least once a day. The channel is home to some of the UK’s most loved animated characters, Scooby-Doo (No. 1 in the UK) and Tom and Jerry (No. 3 in the UK) and also for its Pet of the Week promotion, where viewers can upload videos and photos of their pets on the Boomerang UK website for the opportunity to see their pet on TV. Also not forgetting, the main antagonist in Wacky Races – Dick Dastardly has a dog for a sidekick named Muttley, who often sniggers when Dick Dastardly’s plans to win the race go horribly wrong.

Four celebrity canine drivers with over 300,000 followers from around the UK, channelled their favourite Wacky Races drivers to take part in Boomerang UK’s Instagram Stories competition. Fans and followers voted for their favourite pooch using the new polling feature until one dog was crowned, “The Fast and Furriest.” Penelope Pitstop and Dick Dastardly were played by fashion-obsessed pug, Suki and Ramsey the bull terrier in the first semi-final.
