A new 11-acre park in Tacoma WA has been named the “Dune Peninsula at Point Defiance Park” by the Metro Parks Tacoma board of commissioners in honor of Frank Herbert and his classic novel Dune. The park is being built on a former ASARCO Superfund slag heap. Metro Parks commissioner Erik Hanberg says:
