Boomerang Central Eastern Europe HD Has Launched In Poland Today 17th April
Today (17th April), Turner EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) has launched a high definition feed of Boomerang Central Eastern Europe which is now available to viewers in Poland. Plans for an HD version of Boomerang CEE were announced in October last year. The channel also broadcasts to a large chunk of Europe including Hungary, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and also to the Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders Region) in Western Europe, but no plans of the HD feed being distributed in these countries has been announced yet.
The channel also made the switch to 16:9 widescreen on Wednesday 4th April in preparation for the launch of the HD feed. Viewers in Poland are now able to enjoy animated shows such as New Looney Tunes, Bunnicula and Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz in High Definition. On Monday 7th May, the standard definition feed of Boomerang CEE will be switched off in Poland, ending the full transition to high definition.
Matthias Heinze, the general manager of Turner Central and Eastern Europe made this statement in regards of the new Boomerang HD feed (translated):
“We want to constantly strengthen Boomerang’s position in the Polish market. Fans of classic cartoons should expect a few new products to be introduced on the channel this summer, including the transition to HD quality. One thing will stay the same: all the time we want to provide viewers with a source of carefree, family entertainment that every child needs.”
