Codemasters Confirms F1 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Codemasters and publisher Koch Media have announced F1 2018, the official video game of the 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship, will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday August 24th, 2018 just in time for the Formula 1 2018 Belgian Grand Prix begins on the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit.

While details on the game are still slim, we do know that more classic cars will be added to this year’s entry in the franchise. Codemasters also confirmed that the game’s career mode will be greatly expanded. And of course, F1 2018 will feature every team, driver, and circuit from the official F1 2018 season.

Alongside the announcement came the following statement from Codemasters:

“We were delighted by the reception that the highly-acclaimed F1 2017 game received, and are extremely excited to be able to further build on such a strong starting point with F1 2018” said Paul Jeal, F1 Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Over the past few years we have engaged heavily with our fan-base to understand what is important to them and we cannot wait to unveil more details on features we know our fans will love. Career mode has been further expanded to immerse players even deeper into the world of F1 than before, with the return of a highly requested feature back into the franchise. We are also adding more classic cars, again listening to our fans as to which of the historical F1 cars they would most like to virtually drive next. Outside of those headline additions there are many other great enhancements to be revealed before the game launches.”

There are also a few details on what we might expect from the following blurb about the proper F1 season so far this year:

The 2018 season has started in exhilarating style, with victories for Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel at both the Australian and Bahrain Grand Prix™; and then for Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo in China. Lewis Hamilton then won a thrilling and dramatic race at the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan and most recently Hamilton was again victorious in last weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix. The 2018 season also sees the return of the French Grand Prix for the first time since 2008, at the Circuit Paul Ricard, which last hosted the French Grand Prix in 1990. The German Grand Prix also returns to the Championship after not featuring last year, with the Hockenheimring hosting the race in July. F1 2018 will feature all of the official teams, the drivers and circuits of the 2018 season.

Chasm Set For Summer Release on PS4, Vita, and PC

Today on the PlayStation Blog, word came down the Chasm will finally be making its way to the PS4, along with the Vita and PC. Some of you may recall the game started as a Kickstarter project back in 2013, and at one point was a demo title for the PS4 before release in 2014. After being delayed a couple times over, we’re finally going to be seeing the game sometime this summer. Below is the official trailer and a description released for the game, but we’re suspecting we won’t get a date until around E3 this year.

Welcome to Chasm, an action adventure game in which you play a new recruit undertaking your first mission for the Guildean Kingdom. Thrilled to prove your worth as a knight, you track strange rumors that a mine vital to the war effort has been shut down. But what you discover in the mining town is worse than you imagined: The townspeople have begun to disappear, kidnapped by supernatural creatures emerging from the depths. Honor-bound to solve the mystery and restore peace to the Kingdom, you embark upon an epic adventure, with deadly battles against cunning monsters, exploration of ancient catacombs and castles, and powerful new equipment hidden at every turn. Though the overall story is the same for all players, your hero’s journey will be unique: each of the rooms has been hand-designed, and behind the scenes Chasm stitches these rooms together into a one-of-a-kind world map that will be your own.

Fortnite Servers Down Again For PS4, Xbox One, And PC

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Following a long stretch of downtime related to maintenance yesterday, Fortnite‘s servers are again experiencing issues today, January 26. Epic Games has confirmed log-in issues on PC, PS4, and Xbox One–if you’re unable to get online to play, you’re not the only one.

Epic confirmed log-in issues on PS4 earlier today, which presumably were related to the issues that PSN was suffering from. However, Xbox Live’s status page calls out Fortnite: Battle Royale as “experiencing an issue,” and Fortnite’s Twitter account has confirmed the problem is not limited to a single system.

“We’re getting reports of players having issues logging in across all platforms,” it states. “We hear you and are aware of this problem. Work is being done now to find a solution for this. Updates will be available once we have more information. Thanks for sticking with us!”

These issues come a day after Epic was forced to extend server downtime due to an issue that cropped up during maintenance. That maintenance was tied to the release of a new update that introduced the Chug Jug item, among other changes and fixes. However, the patch’s release resulted in a series of bugs. One of these, related to key-binding issues on certain keyboards, has already been resolved, but Epic is continuing to work on others, according to its forums. These include getting stuck in the aim-down-sights view, reloading not working correctly, and problems with the building selector’s UI (which causes the incorrect structure to be built).

There’s no timeframe for when servers will be fully working again or those bugs will be resolved. We’ll report back as we receive more details.

Fortnite Servers Down For Maintenance Ahead Of New Update on PS4, Xbox One, And PC

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

A new update for Fortnite is scheduled to launch today on all platforms, but players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One are unable to play right now. Maintenance has taken longer than expected, and developer Epic Games says the game will still be down for a period of time as it works to complete the process.

Maintenance began at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM GMT today, January 25. Epic subsequently announced on Twitter, “We’re sorry the update has gone longer than expected. We’re making some changes to the backend systems to handle growth.” It subsequently stated that downtime would continue as it worked on the matter: “Hi all, it is looking like we are going to be down for at least a few more hours as we scale our backend systems.”

In its most recent update, which came just after 7 AM PT, that same estimate was given. “Sorry everyone, it’s looking like the Fortnite servers will be down for at least a few more hours,” it said. “More updates will follow.”

In the meantime, players are unable to get online to play Fortnite’s Battle Royale or Save the World modes. Although not as substantial as the recent map revamp, today’s new patch will make changes to both game modes, with some of the more significant updates coming on the Battle Royale side, where the new Chug Jug item will be added. You can read more about what to expect in our story on the new Fortnite patch notes, or see them in full on the official website. We’ll report back once maintenance is concluded and the update is available.

https://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/1539/15391776/3340666-image005.jpg

Grand Theft Auto V‘s latest multiplayer update is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and, as usual, it adds a new car and multiplayer mode. In addition, there are some sales on in-game items and new bonuses.

This week’s featured vehicle is the Grotti GT500, a sleek sports car that has a bit of a classic, muscle-car look to it. “Contemplate how stunningly attractive this car makes you look,” its promo poster declares.

The new multiplayer mode, meanwhile, is an Adversary mode called Air Quota. Up to four teams and 16 players face off and transform through a series of aircraft, from helicopters to jets to jetpacks. Air Quota awards Double GTA$ and RP from now until January 22.

There’s a handful of good discounts on in-game upgrades and items, too. This week features sales on Facility upgrades, including styles, graphics, and a security room upgrade (all 25% off). The Buckingham Pyro and HVY Nightshark vehicles are also 25% off.

Finally, this week’s Premium Stunt Race is Plummet, which is locked to Supers. The featured Time Trial is Tongva Valley. As always, the top three finishers in the Stunt Race will get extra GTA$ while everyone will earn Triple RP. If you beat the par time in the Time Trial, you’ll get bonus GTA$ and RP.

In other GTA V news, the game shows no sign of slowing down. If anything, it’s doing better than ever: Rockstar recently revealed that GTA V Online had its biggest year ever in 2017.

https://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/123/1239113/3333746-image001+%283%29.jpg

Regular updates to Grand Theft Auto V continue in 2018. Although the first weekly update of the year is not a massive one, Rockstar has released a cool new vehicle and announced some new discounts and extended bonuses that may get you to boot up the game on PS4, Xbox One, or PC.

GTA V’s newest car is a rally vehicle, the Annis Savestra Sports Classic. It’s available now through Legendary Motorsport, and while it looks to be a worthwhile ride on its own, it can get even better. Those with access to an Avenger or Mobile Operations Center have some optional upgrades for the Savestra, including mounted machine guns.

If you don’t yet own a MOC, you can pick up the cab for 50% off its regular price from now through January 8. You can get also get 30% off the Coil Cyclone or Grotti Visione, or 25% off the Ocelot Ardent (a weaponized vehicle), the FH-1 Hunter helicopter, P-45 Nokota plane, and HVY APC (another weaponized vehicle). In the case of the latter three, the discount applies to both the buy-it-now and trade prices.

On the bonus side, Adversary modes Slashers and Occupy are awarding players with double GTA$ and RP until January 8. The Premium Stunt Race is Duel, with a restriction to Muscle-class vehicles, while the Time Trail is Up N Atom. The Premium Race hands out big GTA$ payouts to the top three finishers, while everyone gets Triple RP. The Time Trial offers GTA$ and RP for those who can beat the target time.

New Call Of Duty: WW2 Update Out Today On PS4, Xbox One, and PC

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

The latest Call of Duty: WWII update was released today on PS4 and Xbox One, and it’s coming later today to PC. It brings a host of bug fixes and improvements, and it also includes weapon balance changes to guns ranging from LMGs to sidearms.

The weapon changes are probably the most noticeable parts of the patch, and it strengthens some guns while weakening others. The MP-40 and Thompson submachine guns have both received buffs to their fire rate, which will help bring them closer to the current favorite SMG, the PPSh. Further, the patch increases the Combat Shotgun’s damage range. Finally, the entire LMG class of weapons gets a movement speed buff, while the MG-15 and Lewis LMGs both get reduced recoil.

Meanwhile, the FG-42 rifle has received a significant decrease in fire-rate, a change that will likely reduce the gun’s dominance in the rifle class. Finally, the Machine Pistol’s damage has been nerfed.

The patch also includes some tweaks and bug fixes, including UI improvements and a fix for the Zombies glitch that allowed players to deploy more than the maximum number of mines. You can read all of the changes in the patch notes below.

In related news, Call of Duty: WWII recently crossed $1 billion in sales, becoming this year’s best-selling game. In addition, Activision gave a closer look at one of the maps coming in the next DLC pack.

Destiny 2’s Dawning Event Is Now Live On PS4, Xbox One, and PC

https://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/1539/15391776/3329358-1583194382-dawni.jpg

Destiny 2‘s holiday event, The Dawning, is now live on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. When you jump into the game, you’ll be greeted with a winter makeover of the most-frequented spots and some new items to earn.

The Tower and Farm social spaces are the most wintry, with decorations and snow scattered throughout. But snow has also come to the rest of the game, and you’ll be able to conduct snowball fights in the social spaces as well as on Strikes.

The Dawning also brings back Mayhem, the over-the-top Crucible mode where your Super meter refills extremely fast. This means that Mayhem matches are fast, chaotic, and very entertaining. In addition, there’ll be several new Milestones for you to complete, either by finishing Mayhem matches or running Strikes. These Milestones will grant a Dawning engram each upon completion, and they reset each week.

No Caption Provided

If you’re not in the mood to do Mayhem matches or Strikes, you can also purchase Dawning items through the Eververse Trading Company, Destiny 2’s microtransaction vendor. You can use Bright Dust to buy the new items, which can either be purchased with real money or acquired by dismantling Legendary items. We recommend going through your shader inventory and dismantling all the Legendary shaders you’ll probably never use.

Finally, The Dawning adds gifting and receiving, so you can actually go out and craft items to give to other players. There are also boosts you can acquire that’ll give everyone in your fireteam rewards when you get a drop. You can read more about all the new modes and additions in The Dawning in our previous coverage.

You’ve got several weeks to play The Dawning; it’s currently scheduled to end on January 9. In other Destiny 2 news, Bungie has recently detailed upcoming changes to both the Three of Coins buff and the Masterworks weapon system.

http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png

Fortnite Battle Royale‘s Season Two kicks off today, December 14, and along with it comes a slew of new cosmetic items you can get in the PUBG-like survival game. While Battle Royale is free to download and play, Epic is offering a Battle Pass that grants you immediate access to some of the new items in Season Two and lets you earn more by playing.

The Battle Pass can be purchased with 950 V-Bucks and unlocks a handful of items for your character right away, including a squire outfit, Pulse Axe Pickaxe, and Royale X Glider. You’ll level up your Battle Pass the more you play during the season, which in turn can unlock more than 65 additional rewards. You can also spend V-Bucks to purchase levels and speed up the process.

You can read more about Fortnite Battle Royale’s Battle Pass on the game’s website. Those who don’t purchase it will still be able to unlock many of the new cosmetic items for free just by playing the game, including the Sir Glider the Brave glider and the “Wave” and “Ride the Pony” emotes.

Fortnite Battle Royale’s Season Two runs from December 14 to February 20. Today also marks the start of the game’s Christmas-themed Survive the Holidays event, which is available in both Battle Royale and Save the World. However, players only have a few more days to take part in Battle Royale’s limited-time 50 vs. 50 mode. That runs through Sunday, December 17.

Resident Evil 7 Not A Hero, End Of Zoe DLC Out Now On PS4, Xbox One, And PC

Resident Evil 7‘s definitive Gold Edition is now available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, as are the game’s final two DLC packs. Both the free Not a Hero and the premium End of Zoe expansions are out now on all platforms, wrapping up the acclaimed survival-horror game’s story in a “shocking” way.

The Not a Hero DLC takes place after Resident Evil 7’s main campaign and places players in control of series veteran and fan favorite character Chris Redfield. The story sees Redfield on a mission to find Lucas Baker, which ultimately puts him face-to-face with “new threats not met in the main game.” Not a Hero is available for free to all players. The DLC was originally slated to release back in spring, but Capcom delayed it because the developer felt it “was not good enough” to meet players’ expectations at the time.

End of Zoe, meanwhile, puts players in the role of a “mysterious new woodsman character” named Joe, who has a “chance encounter with Zoe that sets both their fates in motion.” Their journey will take them through new swamp areas and into the path of new enemies. End of Zoe costs $15 to purchase, but those who already own the Resident Evil 7 season pass will receive it at no additional cost.

Both expansions are included in Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition, which also comes with the game’s previous DLC episodes, Banned Footage Volumes 1 and 2. The Gold Edition retails for $50, while Resident Evil 7’s season pass runs for $30. You can watch us play through the Not a Hero and End of Zoe expansions in the video above.
