LT Podcast 085 // Soundbank by Lobster Theremin

This Is Our Time’s very own Soundbank rolls through with an hour of trippy house, whirling into some galvanizing electro and acid to finish with some tasteful tech-house.

In Soundbank’s Own Words:
It was mixed on a moody-rainy Sunday after a ravey weekend with a pair of xdjs, turntables, under the influence of chocolate milk & contains some unreleased This Is Our Time stuff (shout out to Mr. Ciderman). > @sndbnk

LT Podcast 084 // Jenny Cheng by Lobster Theremin

Next up on the LT Podcast series is the indisputably talented DJ, Jenny Cheng. This mix consists of an hour of energetic bass, with chunky beats and a high-octane force that drives throughout. All whilst being blended beautifully and meticulously bowing heavily to the D&B scene. Hold tight, things are about to go off!

In Jenny’s Own Words:
This mix is formed of pretty much all new tracks and moves through the music things I love at the moment: Shanghai, 160 goodness, weird future digi grime offshoot stuff and a special mention to artists who give away their music freely on the internet > @jenny_cheng

MÖRK020 // nthng – Microdose by Lobster Theremin

nthng is back with an introspective blend of atmospheric techno and ethereal magic. A three-track slab of undeniably profound wax.

‘Sighting Of An Angel’ encompasses a dark cavernous blend of heaving pads and crackling surface tension layered with growing whispers of hope.

‘Neo’ builds from a deep, brooding techno sensation carefully combining beading snares that form the foundations of a thumping warehouse spectacle.

The B-side showcases the EP title’s ‘Microdose’. An electrifying, pressure cooker filled with microscopic particles of cosmic magnificence ready to disperse on all dancefloors.

LT-UNDR-06 // Jeals – Scorpio Reservoir by Lobster Theremin

Jeals skirts the edge of the black hole event horizon for his next EP with a spacey, cosmic electro-heavy EP for Lobster UNDR.

The A-side packs in the cyber warfare and Perfect Dark shootout sequences, kicking off with the aptly-named Crash, which does its best to give a hefty nod to the scattergun Electronics labels of yore whilst packing in plenty of that Hague-based doom, funk & punch. Happening channels the Luigi’s Castle soundtrack into a collapsing wormhole on the outer rim with some hefty HEFTY drum clobber and a grunting bassline.

Nifty little lead surprise on the flip, Finally, is what usually would have been that classic lobster ambient A1. Shift in position doesn’t mean the quality’s lacking, this has been opening every Asquith set from here to Canberra and sets the mood nicely for any imminent club destruction. Melodically rich, ebbing, flowing, pulsating synth goodness.

Packing serious 4/4 production chonk in for the B2 is XL. If the Korg ES-1 has a Round Bois preset then this is it; chunky drums, heavy wub subs and those little synths that make you do a flat hand-dance as you play those imaginary keys. A polite yet wonky, tranquillised closer.

A1. Crash
A2. Happening
B1. Finally
B2. XL

In DJ Boring’s Own Words:
Before I actually recorded this mix, I had an idea of how I wanted it to sound, but as soon as I started playing the music took over and it went in a completely different direction. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun recording it at Corsica by myself at 11am!

LT061 // Norwell – New Physics EP by Lobster Theremin

Hungarian electro wizard, Norwell presents his first release on Lobster with his ‘New Physics EP’.

‘Base-1’ immediately launches into a space craft of sharp highs and warp-y drones before erupting into a fitting combination of punky synths and warm bass pads on ‘New Physics’. ‘Paradox Logic’ then kicks in with sparkling electro melodies ready for an immense explosion of deep and colourful drum patterns and sci-fi textures.

On the flip, a rollercoaster of tangy synths and juicy pads in ‘Motif’ springboard into a dusty haze of darkness on ‘Humanoid Forms’ before delving even deeper into a blurry cloud ending on ‘Train to Inamuragasaki’.

A kaleidoscopic journey of electro flavours and warm, punchy robotic space magic.

LT Podcast 082 // JAY by Lobster Theremin

From Warszawa to the world. This mix is inspired by a recent trip to Poland, where I played a deep and freaky set at Brutaż in Warsaw, then a dark and driving set at Szpitalna 1 in Kraków the following night. The resulting mix reflects my sound right now, a blend of deep emotions and industrial percussion. I included some really special digs in this mix, as well as an unreleased one from me.

LT Podcast 081 // D.Dan by Lobster Theremin

If there’s anything that should wake you up on a stunning Monday morning like today, it’s D.Dan. Over an hour of pounding techno, complemented with sparking warehouse industrial and frantic melodies.

In D.Dan’s own words:
light emerging
opening up
peel the curtain back, just a hair..
just one more glimpse into the void!
but no, too late,
i’m caught
i’m drawn in again
heavy rift, stretching out
which way is up?
which way is up?
trapped in the collision
heat, fusion
mutation, fission
the final stage
I break away
